Message from the Master 2017-19

December 29, 2018

I am delighted to welcome you our new website, which I hope will serve to inform you a little bit about the members who make our lodge, together with what we do both locally and further afield. We're proud to have served our city for over two hundred and sixty years and whilst our membership has necessarily changed over that time, the principles we were founded upon haven't: honesty, integrity and charity.

Perhaps you have a family link with our lodge which you'd like to explore, or perhaps you're interested in joining us? In either case we invite you to get in touch with us. You'll find us to be a friendly group with diverse interests, all coming together for a good cause.

So although we're rightly proud of long history, we're very much focussing on both the present, and the future. Over the coming year I look forward to illustrating what we do at Phoenix, and where we want to go in the future. We'll feature some of our members and our officers - who come from around the country and the world - as they explain why they enjoy their Freemasonry so much, and Phoenix Lodge in particular.

Rod C.

Rod joined Phoenix Lodge in 1981 but due to personal circumstances, was unable to take the chair when his first opportunity arose. That certainly did not arrest his enthusiasm for the order and for Phoenix in particular, for in the course of the next thirty-odd years he served variously as Warden and filled in for other officers when they were absent. Indeed his service extended to the Province, where he has served as a Provincial Grand Steward for many years. At long last, in 2017 he was installed as Master of the Phoenix Lodge, in a ceremony marked as much for its timeliness as its happiness.
