We are saddened to learn of the death of John B., who joined Phoenix Lodge on 5th April 1978 and served as Master in 1986 and 2009. In recent years, John was repeatedly re-elected as the lodge's Almoner, an important and time-consuming role into which he introduced his typical enthusiasm. John was a Past Swordbearer of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham.

In the Royal Arch, where he was Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, he most recently served as Treasurer within Chapter De Lambton No. 94.

An active member of Ravensworth Chapter No. 183 within the Ancient and Accepted Rite, in 2017 John received his 30° honours.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Lived respected; died regretted.
